noteworthy. independent steak-house. interesting. you can eat in an encased wine room so everyone knows how special you are. a lot of waiters running around, but somehow, it look someone 20 minutes to take our order. extensive and expensive wine list. snob appeal. high. political scene in full force. patrons. my brother, 23 at the time, was by far the youngest there. older folks abound. mackdaddy. you had got to be high-roller here. if you can talk intelligently while sipping your $75 bottle of cabernet, you are far better off than me. make sure that your date like huge cuts of beef. is it going to hurt? yes. 3 people, salad, two shared side dishes, 3 steaks, 1 bottle of wine . . $300. |

noteworthy. crazy brazilian bbq. interesting. waiters come at you from all angles holding large skewers of grilled meat, ribeye steak, chicken, pork tenderloin, prime rib, and sirloin. all this meat comes with a fantastic buffet that focuses on salads, seafood, and traditional brazilian fare. snob appeal. moderate. this place is good so everyone come here. patrons. families, bankers, lawyers, professionals, tourists. mackdaddy. nothing really stylish about this place; it's loud and rushed. conversation here is difficult but if you want your date to know that you can eat your share of meat (with your hands no less) this is the place for you. is it going to hurt? yes. 2 people, with drinks, dessert, and tip, $130. |

noteworthy. established washingtonian steakhouse. interesting. political bigwigs come here to chat politics, trade favors, and rendevous with their favorite intern. snob appeal. through the roof. patrons. lawyers, senators, congressmen, lobbyists . . . mackdaddy. you're well connected and not afraid to spend some cash for a nice slab of meat. porterhouse is the cut of choice here, make sure you ask the waiters to give you the spiel. is it going to hurt? absolutely. 2 people will expect to pay $150 for aperitifs, 2 steaks, bottle of wine, 2 sides, and dessert.
