a very biased dining guide. below you'll find the not-so-definitive types of cuisines that have made my list. click and you'll find the specific restaurants within the cuisine. japanese. my experience is that the fresher the fish, the better. among the great sushi restaurants, sasabune, located in los angeles, has routinely served the freshest fish i've had. i've yet to find a better restaurant. steak. old-fashioned steak houses with wood paneled interiors and dim lighting provide the perfect atmosphere to cut into a thick slab of finely marbled beef. these places scream the old boy network but anyone can find comfort in a well-prepared porterhouse. steak houses abound in new york and i'm still in the process to touring all of the great ones. fusion. who knows exactly what this category entails other than fusion usually represents a mix of two or more regional cuisines . . . let's see there's japanese-south american, asian-american, tex-mex . . . middle eastern. draws from mediterranean, persian, greek regional influences. seafood. a category unto itself, a great seafood restaurant serves the freshest fish in styles ranging from traditional to innovative. brunch. what better than a delicious spread on a sunday or saturday morning? other notables. just doesn't fall in any category, but well worth the visit.
