10.5.2004 - chapel hill

on the first leg of our cross country tour, starting with chapel hill, north carolina. a beautiful campus set seemingly inside a thickly wooded forest. ham, storm power forward extraordinaire, is a 2l at unc and provided a nice tour of the facilities, including a sneak-in to play a couple hours of unc bball. managed to throw out my back within the first five minutes (minor injury).

10.2.2004 - the countdown

time is ticking away to the last days here in washington, d.c. we've
many friends to see before we leave.

10.1.2004 - the home we almost bought

we almost pulled the trigger on a 1 bd loft in san francisco, until we discovered that the neighborhood was not that great (drug stuff on the sidewalk on a saturday morning). oh well. Posted by Hello

9.6.2004 - relocation joy and new home for kate & bianca

finished the first day of searching for an apartment in san francisco.
we saw some nice loft apartments in south beach and portero hill -
the question is why are there all these contrived names of
micro-neighborhoods in san francisco? it happens in every urban area,
perhaps a not so subtle marketing ploy?
on another note, kate and biance arrived intact after flying from d.c.
to san francisco stowed under our seats on the plane.

9.5.2004 - start of sf apartment hunting

after several months of looking for the perfect new job, i accepted an offer with shartsis, friese & ginsburg, a firm based in san francisco. amy and i are now here in sf looking for a place to live in advance of my end-of-october start date at the firm. tomorrow is our first round of apartments!

9.2.2004 - st. louis

a wedding brought us to our first real venture in the mid-west, st. louis, missouri. nice city with a good vibe, a little tid-bit of info is that you can actually go up the arch (600 ft.!) and check out the city and river view. oh, and the arch "gateway to the west" is made of metal, not stone.

8.20.2004 - off to st. louis

first time ive spent any appreciable time in the midwest. as always, got my
recommendations for good eatin, a custard plane (name escapes me), tony's,
and giavonni's (two italian places).

8.18.2004 - best burger in nyc?

i had a fantastic burger last monday at the dakota roadhouse in downtown
manhatten. patty grilled to perfect medium, soft toasted bun, perfected
melted american cheese, lettuce and tomatoes on the side...all for $6.
this could easily turn into an obsession.

8.15.2004 - new capability

now i can blog via email...who needed this much power?

batman, the caped crusader has arrived in jerome's apartment. saved from the executioner's axe, he now lives contently, though solitarily, running to and fro. Posted by Hello

congratulations to rami and katerina on their new beautiful baby girl! Posted by Hello

setting up this blog was not easy, particularly for a html-non-sql-clueless newbie like myself. i went the painless (though still taking many hours) avenue of blogger.com. this should work!
